La'Bang Body #review

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, it was pretty cold and rainy last weekend, and I was basically bed-ridden with some sort of virus. I'm feeling a little better now so decided to sit down and write a review on some La'Bang Body products!

La'Bang Body is an Australian brand, that makes hair and body products - including body oils, hair treatments, body lotions and scrubs and much more.

Their products are cruelty-free, vegan, made in Australia, made using natural ingredients.

For those of you who don't know, I have very dry and sensitive skin. Ingredients that I know don't tend to agree with my skin include fragrances, alcohol, coconut oil and aloe vera. My skin does not absorb coconut oil at all - never has, probably never will. It tends to dry my lips out if its a main ingredient in my lip products, and I don't really notice a difference when I use it in my hair.

In their hydrating body oil, I tested out their coconut-scented one. There are only 4 ingredients in this body oil - coconut oil, grape seed oil, sweet almond oil, and avocado oil. This was the only one that didn't have a fragrance, hence why I purchased this one.

Coconut oil was the first ingredient listed on this - as you can probably imagine, my skin doesn't absorb it, but I thought I would give it a go anyway. If using it in winter, the product does solidify, would recommend warming it up in your hands to melt it a little and then applying it.

Sarah from the youtube channel Sarah's Day absolutely swears by this product, as do many women, especially for stretch marks. I didn't notice a difference to be honest, but if your skin absorbs oils, definitely check this out. There are no nasties in this entire brand's range, so that means no weird chemicals on your body.

Their, Luxe Body Cream however, I was able to test until it was empty. There are way more ingredients in this product than the oil, as you can probably tell. There is a fragrance in this, the one I picked up was vanilla & coconut, though they do have a few other scents as well. They unfortunately do not have one without fragrance. Although I didn't have a reaction to this product, I was still extremely cautious not to put the body cream on areas that I know are sensitive and are my ezcema-prone areas (back of hand, between knees, elbows etc) as it did tingle at times.

It does dry and absorb pretty quickly, it's not really a product that you can put on and still be moisturised a few hours later, you definitely would need to reapply - especially if your skin gets visibly white, dry and ashy like myself.

I did enjoy the product, it definitely made me smell nice and yummy, however I really do wish they had one without a fragrance, as I would probably purchase it again if this was the case.

You do require quite a bit of the product to cover your entire body, a 100mL product ($22.95) doesn't last very long. In my opinion, probably lasts a week at max, which makes it quite a pricey investment to keep purchasing over and over again IMO. There are however a few discount codes floating around. If you sign up for their newsletter, you often get notified of sales there. I know that Sarah from Sarah's Day also has a discount code (not an affiliate code), every once a while which she posts on ig stories.

Deets about Shipping - I live in Melbourne, every time I've ordered from them (small orders, like one product at a time) I've received free shipping. I'm not sure if this is because I live in Melbourne, or because my orders were small each time. They don't advertise that they have free shipping for all orders in Melbourne. In fact, there's no information regarding shipping costs on their website at all - they ship internationally. It took about 5 business days for my package to arrive, so not bad I guess, although they are located in Melbourne so yeah. But, will admit, I did find it a little bizarre that they didn't have any details about shipping costs on their website.

Deets about Packaging - now, I'm trying to be a little more conscious about my use of plastic packaging. When it gets shipped to me, my orders have always come in a cardboard envelope which I can recycle very easily (so A+++). My issue lies with the packaging of the product. Yes, the packaging is super fun, colourful and cute. I do get that with the body oil, it's a little safer to use the plastic packaging to avoid it from leaking out and making other stuff in your bag oily - which I think is quite a smart idea. With the Luxe Body Cream, they use the same packaging, I think they could have used a container (like their body scrubs for e.g.) in this situation - therefore, it can be reused for something else without creating this single use plastic waste. In my opinion, the product itself don't last very long at all if using every day. Say we use one packet every 7 days, like I did when trialling the product, that means we use 52 packets of these every year - which all go straight into landfill because they cannot be reused or recycled. Hopefully in the future, they can come up with some sort of alternative to their packaging.

In summary, would I purchase again? in short, no - simply because there's a fragrance in the body luxe cream (this is probably the product I would purchase again, if there was no fragrance) and the amount of plastic waste from the packaging over time. It is a little pricey, it's definitely not a drugstore moisturiser - however, I guess you're paying for the natural ingredients which isn't so bad in my opinion.

What are your thoughts? Have you tried La'Bang products before?

S xoxo

* all products were purchased myself and as always, all opinions are my own; there are no affiliate links and nothing was sponsored :))
